Catastrophe!

December 31, 2007

So, I told this story to a few people already, but I wanted to write it up because it’s a pretty good one.

Ok, we got back from vacation, and as often happens in that circumstance, the fridge was looking pretty bare.  I was really thirsty and searching for something to drink.  Then I saw it in the far back… a small carton of egg nog.  Score!

I pull out the carton and check the expiration date.  Only about three days over.  I can live with that.  I give it a sniff.  Smells fine.  Then I take a swig… and gag!  It was the most sour rotten tasting thing I have ever experienced!

As I was retching and spitting into the sink and trying to drink some water, I took another look at the carton.  Yeah, my carton of “egg nog” was, in fact, buttermilk!  I guess I’ll be more careful in the future.  😦

Pictures from Christmas in Portland

December 29, 2007

Well, we’re back home from Portland finally after waiting hours at the airport because our flight was delayed.  Our household is in something of a sleepy stupor from our late return.  We’re glad to be back home to relax.  Here’s some fun pictures of our trip!

December 25, 2007

Christmas time, oh Christmas time.
Christmas time, oh Christmas time.
Christmas time, oh Christmas time.
Christmas time, oh Christmas time.

Christmas time, oh Christmas time.
Christmas time, oh Christmas time.
Christmas time, oh Christmas time.
Christmas time, oh Christmas time!

This is a special holiday song dedicated to my Dad.  (Sung to the tune of “Good King, Wenceslas”.)

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Did you know, Kyle, that I thought you looked like a raccoon when you were born?  You were 7lbs 12oz.  You were born at 1:18pm.  Time flies my little angel!  Your daddy and I love you so much!  We talk about how handsome and charming you are!  We love to make you laugh.  You have so many people who love you.  Happy birthday little fellow.

Snowmobiling Trip

December 18, 2007

Every year Brad’s work takes employees and their spouses on a snowmobiling trip and we were unlucky enough to miss the first year because Brad was training in California, and also the second year because I was five days overdue with Kyle. This year was our first chance to go! And do you think we let our son’s birthday get in the way? Nope. Neither of us had been snowmobiling before and it was a lot of fun! Brad got himself caught pretty bad in some powder once, but made up for that beginner’s mistake with some pretty awesome jumps.  We’re spoiled by Brad’s work, seriously.   Yay Intuit!

Just Like Pops

December 17, 2007

If you’ve ever seen Brad swimming, you should appreciate this post! He does the weirdest thing where he plugs his nose using his mouth. Brad thinks it’s normal but it’s one of the all time weirdest things ever! Lately, it looks like Kyle might be taking after his pops!

Party Recap

December 11, 2007
Twelfth Month

Kyle was so cute at his Birthday Party!  Thank you to everyone who came and made it a success!  My favorite part was when he ate his cupcake.  We were scared he wouldn’t even eat it at first, but when he decided to go for it, he took an entire half and just held it to his mouth gnawing at it until it was gone!  He loved the bows on his presents the most.  Check out the photos, and some Christmas ones I took, that we added to his twelfth month album!

On an unrelated note, Congratulations to Erica for being accepted to BYU!

Christmas Lights

December 9, 2007

Well, it’s not much, but we’ve put up some Christmas lights on our bushes.  Many thanks to Bill and Angie for providing these for us.  (They were going to be going to DI otherwise.)

We would have put up a picture sooner, but I couldn’t hold the camera steady enough for a non-blurry night shot.  So thanks also to Mike from work for letting me borrow his tripod.

Did I say Thursday? :)

December 5, 2007

I meant we’re going to have a party for Kyle on MONDAY!  How foolish of me!  So Monday, December 10th will be Kyle’s birthday party at 6:30pm.  We’ll have pizza for dinner and cake for everybody.  We hope you can come!  Leave us a comment to RSVP or we’ll hunt you down for an answer.
